From 1 to 4 May 2023, ALDA Governing Board member and representative of Società Cooperativa Sociale Studio Progetto, Mr. Andrea Rilievo, together with the Head of the Development Department of ALDA, Mr. Marco Boaria, flew to Georgia for a trip aimed at strengthening their partnership ties in the country, while getting a taste of the nation’s beautiful culture. 

A team from ALDA decided to leave for Ukraine for a 5-day mission, which took place at the beginning of May, with the aim of increasing this ongoing commitment to the nation, strengthening the links already established and creating new ones. 

ALDA Governing Board met last 28 April for a special online session that marked some great improvements on the process to become an ALDA Member.

On March 4th, the city of Trieste will host the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between ALDA – the European Association of Local Democracy – and CEI – the Central European Initiative.

As of the 1st of March 2023, the “Media4EU” project has officially started. The latter is meant to improve the quality of the journalism and media sectors in North Macedonia, as well as the general information environment in the country.

The brand-new office in Brussels hosted the first ALDA Governing Board meeting for this 2023. In an atmosphere of renovated joy, so meet again after months, the delegates gathered on Friday 3 March 2023 to update on the recent mission to Ukraine, and the development of the LDAs in the Country.

Reinforcing democracy at the local level: ALDA meets with Commission Vice-President Ms. Šuica

The “2023 Global Forum on Modern Direct Democracy” will take place in Mexico City from February 27, until March 4, 2023. This year’s Global Forum represents a great opportunity for Mexico and Latin America, not only for the importance and weight of the topics discussed, but also because it will be the first one held in the Western Hemisphere after more than 10 years. 

Representatives of the Turkish Municipality of Edremit visited the Local Democracy Agency Mostar today in order to learn more about its work.

On 24 February 2023, ALDA, in cooperation with the Municipality of Gdansk and the LDA Mariupol itself, organises ameeting among the partners of the LDA Mariupol.

From 30 January until 3 February, 2023, ALDA was in Marseille for the Heads of Networks meeting and the French network General Assembly of the Anna Lindh Foundation.
