SUMMARY:16th ARLEM Plenary Session
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\nOn 6–7 November 2025, the ARLEM Plenary Session gathers in Palermo, Italy, bringing together local and regional leaders from Europe and the Mediterranean to strengthen cooperation and dialogue across the region. The ARLEM Plenary Session is the annual meeting of the Euro-Mediterranean Regional and Local Assembly, a platform jointly organised by the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) and partners representing southern and eastern Mediterranean countries.\nThis 16th edition focuses on sustainable territorial development, blue and green economy opportunities, youth empowerment, and climate adaptation. Mayors, governors, and civil-society representatives will exchange experiences on managing migration, coastal protection, and local governance reforms. The debates will also highlight innovative municipal actions contributing to regional stability, peace, and democratic participation.\nALDA and its members will take part in the session to underline the importance of citizen participation and decentralised cooperation in the Mediterranean context. The event aligns with ALDA’s commitment to empowering local authorities and communities to implement the principles of good governance and to advance regional partnerships in line with the European Neighbourhood Policy.\nThe outcomes of the discussions will feed into policy recommendations submitted to the European Committee of the Regions and relevant EU institutions. Delegates will also discuss the implementation of joint projects, capacity-building initiatives, and partnerships with cities from North Africa and the Middle East.\nFor the official agenda and practical information, please visit the European Committee of the Regions – ARLEM page.\nTo learn more about ALDA’s approach to decentralised cooperation and active citizenship, see the Our Mission page.\n\n\n\n\n\n📍Palermo, Italy\n📆 6 -7 November 2025\nDiscover more here ( https://cor.europa.eu/en/plenaries-events/16th-arlem-plenary-session )\n
