DESCRIPTION:\n\n\nOn 16 and 17 September 2025, the Team Europe Democracy ( https://capacity4dev.europa.eu/projects/team-europe-democracy-ted_en ) (TED) Network will hold its Annual Meeting 2025 in Brussels, hosted at Sparks. This third edition comes at a critical time: for the first time in over 20 years, there are more autocracies than democracies worldwide.\nAgainst this backdrop, the TED Network Annual Meeting 2025 will serve as an inclusive platform for dialogue and strategic coordination among democracy support actors — from governmental and multilateral institutions to civil society organisations and independent experts.\nALDA will participate in the event, contributing to discussions on strengthening international democracy support, addressing global backsliding, and enhancing cooperation for democratic resilience.\nThe programme will include:\n\n\nWorking group sessions on gaps and best practices in democracy assistance\n\n\nStrategic updates from partner countries and TED members\n\n\nOpportunities to forge new alliances and deepen collaboration across the network\n\n\nWith a focus on the theme “United for Democracy”, the TED Network Annual Meeting 2025 will explore how to recalibrate democracy support in an era of shifting global power dynamics and rising authoritarianism.\nThe Team Europe Democracy (TED) is a global thematic Team Europe Initiative (TEI) launched in December 2021 to promote democracy and human rights worldwide.
